Are You Making These Article Marketing Mistakes?

When you’ve spent a lot of time any amount of time looking at articles and approving them for your article directory like I do, you start to notice the same mistakes coming up again and again.

So how many of these mistakes are you making?

Here’s the top 5…

1. Poor Headline – If you compare an article directory to your e-mail inbox you’ll realize how important a good headline is. Do a quick scan and you’ll notice there will be some e-mail headlines that jump out at you compared to others they may all have the same great information but the headline is what makes you want to know more and grabs your curiosity.

So how can you improve your article headlines?

Easy, do a quick scan through an article directory and find the headlines that stand out and just copy them. When I say copy I don’t mean word for word but rather the nuts and bolts of the idea what makes them tick. Another article headline idea to look for magazines related to your market and apply the same thing as the article directory idea.

Plus using magazines you’ll also find words or phrases that only people in your target market use. Use them in your headline this help to speak to your niche even better.

2. Poor Spelling – This is a big no-no. If you’re trying to impress someone with your knowledge in an article and its full or spelling errors, what impression are you sending out?

There really is no excuse for this mistake, all computers and most article directories have a spell feature you should use before submitting your article.

You may think this doesn’t happen much but you’d be surprised we’ve received articles with even the authors name spelled wrongly!

3. Lack Of White Space – Reading on a computer can be hard on your eyes. If you come across an article that’s just made up of solid paragraphs with no rest between you’ll soon give up or just do a quick scan and move on.

To solve this problem spread your article out into shorter paragraphs and/or use bullet points to add more white space.

4. Writing Too Much – Like the last point I made, sitting reading at a computer can be hard on your eyes. Most people don’t like reading as a general rule, so why go to the time and trouble of writing an article of up to a 1000 words that’s not going to get read.

Reduce what you have to say to 500-600 words. This way you can talk about the key points you need to make. If you need to write that many words why not spread it over 2 parts for example “Article Title Part 1” and “Article Title Part 2”.

5. Poor Resource Box – What’s the real reason for writing an article? “The Resource Box” of course, you want your reader to read the article but more importantly you want them to click that link at the bottom and visit your/affiliate website.

So if you’ve got a poor resource box all your hard work was for nothing. You need to consider your resource box more like the headline after the article. You’ve got a headline at the beginning so why not a headline at the end?

Don’t just put down this article was written by “Joe Soap” and expect people to come flooding. You need to put yourself in your reader’s shoes. What would they want more of, more great information, something free?

Remember you’ve put a lot of work into your article so why not wring as much traffic out of it as you can. Just because its free traffic don’t mean you shouldn’t give it as much thought as writing a Google adwords ad.

Finally,

If you take these points on board you’ll be way ahead of the other 90% of people who use article marketing and wonder why they’re getting very poor results from it.

4 Ways To Drive Traffic To Your Squeeze Page

Driving traffic into your Squeeze Page – it sounds easy, doesn’t it? Well, it’s not. And no matter how great your Squeeze Page is, it wont matter if no one ever reads it.

Furthermore, if everyone in the world other than your target audience reads it, it also wont matter. This is why you need to find media through which you can drive targeted visitors to your Squeeze Page.

1. One way in which you can drive traffic to your Squeeze Page is through natural search engine optimization. This is the slowest process, but it is also one of the best ways to ensure a continually increasing stream of traffic over time.

Generating natural search engine traffic generally entails getting links to your site. While reciprocal linking was once the best strategy, experts now believe that major search engines are devaluing reciprocal links in favor of one-way links and triangular links (which search engines can’t really detect).

Another way in which to get natural search engine traffic is by optimization your website for certain key phrases. You can do this by creating pages that specifically focus on one keyword on your given niche. You can then set the page extension to that keyword and optimize the content at a 1.5% density for that keyword. You will also want to use it in header and title tags.

2. Now, in addition building natural search engine traffic, you will want to consider using pay per click advertising. You can do this by opening an account with Google Adwords.

Successful Google Adwords campaigns do two things: they group keywords into multiple, small, related groups – and they send leads to multiple, tweaked Squeeze Pages.

This means you will have to start with some careful keyword research; and you will then have to alter your Squeeze Pages to match that research. These are some of the most commonly used tools for driving traffic to a Squeeze Page; however, they are not always the most effective.

Now, both of those methods can be effective, but they both usually have rather high barriers to entry and require a lot of work.

3. Luckily, you do have another option: human connections. And this is where most Internet marketers fail. They don’t realize the power of human connections because they are so caught up in the idea of making transactions and collecting massive checks without having to deal with customers and clients.

One quick way to get traffic through human connections is a joint venture. You can enter into a joint venture by compiling a list of possible “partners” — or people who might be able to assist you in some mutually-beneficial way. This list might include other list owners in your niche, site owners in your niche, and experts.

There’s only one important thing you should keep in mind when contacting joint venture partners – and that is to make it as quick, easy, and beneficial for them as possible. If they have no incentive for doing it, they probably wont even reply to you. And if it isn’t easy, they’ll accept other joint venture offers over yours.

4. Another way in which you can drive traffic to your Squeeze Page is through blog and forum posting; however, it is important that you do not spam, as many businesses do.

Instead, actually participate on the forum, provide people with something of value; and, after a while, post your product in your signature – and try to network with people on the forum who work in similar fields.

Your approach to blog posting should be similar. Include a signature file that links back to your Squeeze Page, but don’t spam. Instead, post useful comments. This is not only more ethical, but it is plainly more effective. Spam gets deleted. Good comments get praised, inducing people to follow your link and check out your products.

Quick Tip For Getting Indexed

I learned a neat little trick for getting your site indexed really fast by Google. Or at least to get the process underway.

It does require that you have an existing website somewhere, as you’ll see. But it’s real easy to do.

You have to have an Adsense account. And as you may know, you need a website up and running before you can sign up for Adsense so you do need a little preparation to make the most of this. But many of you will already have an Adsense account. If you don’t you can set up a free blog at Blogger or Wordpress and tie your Adsense account to that. Make a few posts and then apply and you should get approved pretty fast.

One you’ve got an Adsense account you can put the ads on any website you like. Just copy the code into one or more of the pages.

Now here’s the good part. If you put an Adsense code block on one of the pages on your new site Google won’t know what kind of ad to provide. That’s because it’s never heard of that site and has no information.

But if you keep refreshing the page, all of a sudden the ads will become relevant. Which means that Google now knows about your site. And while you won’t appear in the index the same day at least Google now knows your site is there and you will get indexed faster.

Of course it also makes sense to do your other SEO tasks, like getting links in quality directories, maybe adding a few comments to popular blogs.

But Adsense will wake up big G. and make them take notice of you. So use their own tools for your benefit!

Oh, you might find you need to refresh the page quite a bit before you start seeing proper Adsense ads. Once you see them you can relax. And if you want to take the ads off at that point you can.
